Little III to a new three-year term on the Retirement Board. More than 400 delegates from across the state attended the meeting, which was held Nov. 1-2 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

Little, who ran unopposed, was first elected to the Board in 2024. He serves on the Board’s Audit, Disability Review, Ethics, and Risk committees.

“I am grateful to be able to continue to serve as a trustee. It is a real joy to go around the state and to support the education of our members in this important work,” Little said in his acceptance remarks following the election.

A teacher at the Syracuse City School District, Little is one of three active teacher members on the 10-member Retirement Board. The other active teacher Board members are Eric J. Iberger from the Bayport-Blue Point Union Free School District and Natalie McKay from the Schoharie Central School District. Board President David P. Keefe is the retired teacher member on the Board.

NYSTRS Board members serve without compensation and represent various constituents, including teachers, school administrators and school boards. They act as fiduciaries who protect the long-term value of NYSTRS’ investment portfolio for nearly 463,000 active and retired members and beneficiaries.

Along with the election of a teacher Board member, this year’s meeting featured a Delegate-Board/Staff Discussion and a full slate of educational seminars. Materials from the educational sessions can be found on our Delegates/Annual Delegates Meeting page.

Delegates are teacher members of NYSTRS who are elected by their peers to represent their districts. They are tasked with two key functions: to serve as a liaison between the System and the members in their district and to elect active teacher members to the System’s Board at the Delegates Meeting.
