Active Member Inquiries

Call (800) 348-7298 or (518) 447-2900 and use the following extensions. From a general security perspective, we do not advise using your Social Security number to identify yourself over the phone. Therefore, if you call NYSTRS to discuss your personal information, please be prepared to provide your NYSTRS EmplID to confirm your identification. To find your EmplID, you can refer to your annual Benefit Profile or Retired Member Profile, or other personal correspondence sent by NYSTRS.

  • To schedule an appointment in Albany or at a video conference site: Ext. 6100
  • For questions about prior service: Ext. 6030

Email general questions or comments to us at communit@nystrs.org. Emails are typically answered within three business days.

To ensure the confidentiality of your membership information and to protect your privacy, we do not send personal information via email. Likewise, we suggest you refrain from providing personal information (e.g., your Social Security number or EmplID) when emailing NYSTRS.

Secure Messaging in MyNYSTRS

With secure messaging, members can safely include personal information when writing to NYSTRS. Accordingly, we can respond with information specific to your membership. Message us from the Tools > Secure Messaging page in MyNYSTRS. We will respond within three business days.

Mail

Our mailing address is 10 Corporate Woods Drive, Albany, NY 12211-2395. Documents mailed to NYSTRS will be considered filed on the day they are mailed if they are mailed by registered or certified mail via the U.S. Postal Service, or by an equivalent delivery service that provides mail tracking and is approved for use by the System. Please see the list of delivery services currently approved by the System.

Business Hours

Our regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. During the summer, our office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday.

From the North

  • Take Interstate 87 (Adirondack Northway) south to Exit 1E.
  • Take Interstate 90 east to Exit 5A (Corporate Woods).
  • Follow ramp straight onto Corporate Woods Blvd.
  • Turn left at second light onto Corporate Woods Drive.
  • NYSTRS is the second building on the right.

From the South

  • Take the Thruway (Interstate 87) north to Exit 23 (Albany).
  • Take Interstate 787 north.
  • Take Interstate 90 west to Exit 5A (Corporate Woods).
  • Follow ramp straight onto Corporate Woods Blvd.
  • Turn left at second light onto Corporate Woods Drive.
  • NYSTRS is the second building on the right.

From the East

  • Take Interstate 90 west to Exit 5A (Corporate Woods).
  • Follow ramp straight onto Corporate Woods Blvd.
  • Turn left at second light onto Corporate Woods Drive.
  • NYSTRS is the second building on the right.

From the West

  • Take the Thruway (Interstate 90) east to Exit 24 (Albany/Northway).
  • Continue on Interstate 90 east to Exit 5A (Corporate Woods).
  • Follow ramp straight onto Corporate Woods Blvd.
