The 2020 Benefit Profile for active members is available online for those with a MyNYSTRS account. Please review your Profile to keep track of your future retirement benefits.
To view this annual statement, log in to your secure MyNYSTRS account and select My Retirement > Benefit Profile. If you chose to receive your statement via U.S. mail, a copy of your Benefit Profile should have arrived by the end of November.
The Profile, a personalized snapshot of your career, includes your NYSTRS service and salary information as of June 30, 2020. It is a very important tool for calculating your future retirement benefit. The "Planning for Retirement" insert, also available in your MyNYSTRS account, details the retirement process and benefit payment options. We urge all members, but particularly those who are at least age 50, to read the insert.
Be sure to review your beneficiary information listed in the Profile so you can make any necessary changes. Depending on your membership status and eligibility, the document may also include projections of a service retirement benefit under different scenarios; disability and death benefit projections; and a summary of contributions and loan information (if applicable).
It’s important to review your Profile each year to ensure your employer(s) correctly reported your service and salary data – both of which are major components of the formula used to calculate your retirement benefit. If you find errors, contact your employer(s) and request corrections be submitted to NYSTRS immediately.
Be sure to keep your email address current with NYSTRS so you don’t miss an important email. You may update it conveniently in MyNYSTRS on the My Account > Manage Contact Information page. While you are in MyNYSTRS, you should also make sure you are subscribed to receive digital copies of our active members’ newsletter, Your Source, to keep you informed of NYSTRS retirement news.
