(Jan. 9, 2012) – Registration is now open for NYSTRS' second annual MWBE Investments Conference, to be held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at System offices in Albany.
The conference, themed "Expanding Access and Increasing Opportunities," will introduce potential asset managers and brokers across the investment classes, as well as professional and financial service providers, to the Retirement System. Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of the System's portfolio and investment needs, as well as the abilities and qualifications NYSTRS expects of its managers and brokers.
Attend either the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon or the afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The morning session will focus on public equities (asset managers and brokers) and professional services – financial. The afternoon session will focus on private equity; real estate; fixed income; and, professional services – legal and real estate. NYSTRS is the second-largest public retirement system in the state and one of the 10-largest systems in the nation. The System administers a defined benefit plan that provides retirement, disability and death benefits to eligible New York State public school teachers and administrators. As of June 30, 2011, System net assets totaled $89.9 billion.
