Benefit Enhancement Credit (Article 19)

The following chart shows Tier 1 and 2 members how much additional service credit they will receive under Benefit Enhancement (Article 19) legislation adopted in 2000. If eligible, a member would receive one-twelfth of a year in enhancement credit for each year of their service credit at retirement, up to a maximum of two years of enhancement credit. It is not necessary to purchase this additional credit or file a special form; it is granted automatically. Remember: Article 19 service is not credited until retirement.
