|Serving New York Educators Since 1921|
NYSTRS members work for more than 800 school districts, colleges, charter schools and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). The accuracy and timeliness of the salary, service and other pertinent information employers provide NYSTRS about members is critically important.
Employers are required to oversee the election of NYSTRS delegates and alternates. By law, each chief school administrator (CSA) or his or her designee is responsible for the process. Election results must be reported in the Employer Secure Area (ESA).
It is the responsibility of the CSA or the designated ESA security administrator to assign rights to report delegate election results. Only the person(s) selected and reported to NYSTRS will have the ability to access this portion of the ESA.
For more information about the election process, roles and responsibilities, refer to:
For information on how to treat Delegates Meeting attendance, salary and expense issues, refer to Administrative Bulletin 2013-11; Opinion of the State Comptroller; Decision of the Commissioner of Education; and, Opinion of Counsel to the Education Department.
Visit the Delegates page for a list of current delegates.
A NYSTRS representative will visit your school to give a tailored benefits presentation to members. Typical topics include new member orientation, retirement planning, and an overview of System benefits. Call (800) 348-7298, Ext. 2914 to schedule a presentation.
