NYSTRS to Hold Employer Reporting Seminar

The System invites you to attend an upcoming Employer Reporting Seminar:

The seminar will give employers a thorough overview of NYSTRS' Employer Secure Area (ESA), including: how to view your district's Article 19 Report; reporting retroactive pay; and, assigning security rights. Don't miss your chance to meet with a NYSTRS representative and learn more about the ESA and employer reporting!

GASB Public Pension Accounting Standards

In June 2012, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) approved new accounting standards for public pension plans and participating employers. The standards affecting employers are effective for fiscal years beginning after June 15, 2014.

Employers are encouraged to read NYSTRS' GASB Accounting Changes fact sheet, which is intended to help answer some common questions that NYSTRS’ participating employers may have about GASB Statement 68.

Employer Responsibilities for Annual Delegates Meeting

Employers are required to oversee the election of NYSTRS delegates and alternates. By law, each chief school administrator (CSA) or his or her designee is responsible for the process. Election results must be reported in the Employer Secure Area (ESA).

For more information about the election process, roles and responsibilities, refer to:

For information on how to treat Delegates Meeting attendance, salary and expense issues, refer to Administrative Bulletin 2013-11; Opinion of the State Comptroller; Decision of the Commissioner of Education; and, Opinion of Counsel to the Education Department.

Visit the Delegates page for a list of current delegates.
