Employer Secure AreaReporting Tips

Welcome NYSTRS Employers

NYSTRS members work for more than 800 school districts, colleges, charter schools and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). The accuracy and timeliness of the salary, service and other pertinent information employers provide NYSTRS about members is critically important.

Employer Responsibilities for Annual Delegates Meeting

Employers are required to oversee the election of Retirement System delegates and alternates. By law, each chief school administrator (CSA) or his or her designee is responsible for overseeing this process. Election results must be reported through NYSTRS' Employer Secure Area. This represents a change from past procedure.

Consistent with existing ESA procedures, it is the responsibility of the CSA or the designated Security Administrator to assign the rights to report delegate election results. Only the person(s) selected and reported to NYSTRS will have the ability to access this portion of the ESA. The username and password used with the previous system will not function with ESA.

For more information about the election process, as well as roles and responsibilities, see the following:

Refer to the following regarding delegate attendance, salary and expense reimbursement issues:

Visit the Delegates page for a list of current delegates and to verify recently elected delegates have been reported.
