Consultations & Preretirement Planning Seminars

Understanding the intricacies of retirement benefits can be a challenge. That’s why NYSTRS provides a variety of educational resources designed to help you make sound, informed decisions about retirement and the benefits available to you. Our valuable services include consultations with System representatives and Preretirement Planning Seminars. For your convenience, we hold consultations and seminars throughout the state.

Consultations are open to all members.  They allow you to meet with a representative either in-person or through a video hook-up, ask specific questions about your membership, and receive printed estimates of your retirement benefits. View the Consultations schedule.

Preretirement Planning Seminars are designed for active members age 45 and older (spouses/companions may also attend).  In addition to reviewing NYSTRS benefits, these daylong sessions cover topics such as retirement income, payment options, adjusting to retirement, legal considerations, and financial planning.
