Mr. Farfaglia is one of three trustees elected from the NYSTRS membership to serve on the 10-member Board. Prior to his election to the Board, he attended the quarterly meetings as an interested observer. He chairs the Ethics and Personnel & Planning committees and serves on the Communications, Disability Review, Proxy and Rules & Regulations committees.

A graduate of LeMoyne College and SUNY Oswego, Mr. Farfaglia is a long-time teacher in the Jordan-Elbridge School District and has served as the district's union president for the past 20 years. He has served New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) in a number of capacities, including chair of the NYSUT Pension and Retirement Committee and currently as an at-large director.
